Betty Jo Hutchins Smith, 87

Betty Jo Hutchins Smith, 87, formerly of Spindale, NC passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022.

A native of Rutherford County, Betty was born in Bostic August 8, 1935 to the late Thomas and Hattie (Causby) Hutchins and attended Mount Vernon School.

Betty married Bobby Hewett Smith in 1952 and they were married for over 42 years. She married Paul Vickers in 2009 and they were married for over 10 years.

Betty was a retired seamstress for Tanner Companies and a Sunday School teacher at Oak Springs Baptist Church.

Betty is survived by daughter Kim Amos (Michael); sister Mildred Broome (Ray); six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her first husband Bobby Hewett Smith, daughter Rhonda Renee Smith; second husband, Paul Vickers; brothers: Edgar Hutchins, Alton Hutchins, and Ray Hutchins, and sisters: Gertrude Watkins, Lola Cochran, and Edna Bright.

Betty's celebration of new life was held December 29 at Crowe's Chapel. The service was officiated by Reverends Tommy Hutchins and Chris Fox.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fair Haven Home Bostic "resident activity fund," 149 Fairhaven Dr., Bostic.
