Betty Searcy Seitz, age 79

Betty Searcy Seitz, age 79 of Forest City, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015.

A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Manly Searcy and Maude Melton Searcy, and widow of the late Bob B. Seitz. Betty was a graduate of the Fletcher School of Nursing, and retired having worked as a nurse for many years with the North Carolina Prison System. After retirement she worked for Hospice of Rutherford County. She was an avid and talented seamstress and was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Forest City.

Survivors include her son, Wesley Sheehan and his wife Mary of Columbus, NC and their children, Brandon and Jennifer; daughters, Judith Sheehan of Hendersonville, NC and Linda Justice and her husband J.D. of Gaffney, SC and their daughter and son-in-law, Kristy Garrett and Gary and their daughters, Katie and Isla; a step-daughter, Tricia Seitz-Wood and her husband Ronnie, and their daughter, Katie, of Winston-Salem; step-grandson, Grayson Justice; a niece, Pam Searcy; nephews Phillip Searcy and Paul John Searcy; a brother, Robert Searcy of Rutherfordton; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Searcy of San Diego, CA.

Funeral services were held at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend Ron Setzer officiating. Interment will be private for the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove UMC, P.O. Box 880, Forest City, NC 28043 or Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
