Brite Griffin Jolley, age 95, of Rutherfordton, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012.
She was born on October 12, 1916, in Union County, N.C. to Walter Baxter Griffin and Cora Bass Griffin, and was the youngest of thirteen Griffin children. She was reared in the Baptist faith, and has been a member of Missionary Wesleyan church in Forest City for many years.
Her working life has included home-maker, farming, sales clerk positions, and retirement from textiles in later years.
She was preceded in death by all her siblings, by her husband, Robert Leaster Jolley, two daughters, Vandora Hutchins Crain, and Joyce Dill Mathis.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Donald Jolley and his wife Maxine Hudlow Jolley of Rutherfordton, and Maxie Gene Jolley and his wife Joannie Bivens Jolley of Forest City. She was blessed with fifteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
A memorial service was conducted at Crowe’s Mortuary and Chapel. A special thanks is owed to the CAP program at Carolina Community Care for making her last weeks some of her best in recent memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rutherford County Hospice.
