The Shelby Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol program each year recognizes one cadet who stands out above the rest by choosing to go above and beyond basic expectations. This cadet has demonstrated amazing character in helping plan, organize, mentor, and run a team of cadets as their cadet squadron commander, and continued rank promotions.
With the help of the Colonel Frederick Hambright DAR Chapter Regent Renee Bost, this award was presented to Cadet Lt. Col. Ryan Buckton. Cadet Buckton is currently a high school and college student in Cleveland County. He is a great example to other youth demonstrating excellence in all he does.
