Carolyn Jean Cartee Thompson passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016.

Jean was a native of Rutherford County, but lived many years in Richmond, VA, before moving back to her hometown after retirement.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Dan Thompson, her parents Clarice Mills Johnson, Hubert Johnson and Boyce Lee Cartee, a brother Hubert Johnson (Junior) and a sister Gladys E. Yelton (Betty).

Jean is survived by five sisters, Shirley Scruggs of Mooresboro, Cecil Price (John) of Springfield, VA, Mary Toms of Rutherfordton, Retha Goforth of Rutherfordton, and Wanda Butler (Steve) of Mooresboro, and a number of special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special friend Buck Buchanan.

The family would also like to acknowledge Karen Gammon for all the love and support she has shown Jean during her illness.

A celebration of life was held at Crowe's Funeral Chapel, with Pastors Owen Duncan of Mt Pleasant Baptist and Eric Reedy of Mountain View Baptist officiating.
