Carolyn Lawson Newman age 87 of Spartanburg, SC a former resident of Murrell's Inlet, died Friday, January 9, 2026.

Born May 25, 1938, in Spartanburg County, she was the seventh of eight children of the late James Victor Lawson and Mary Farmer Lawson. She was a 1956 graduate of Pauline High School and was a Baptist.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Selena Rose Videtto, Henry Clinton Videtto III and Melissa Videtto Dice, five sisters, Kathleen L. White, Thelma L. Sceals, Gladys L. Quinn, Lottie L. From, Frances L. Roper, and a brother, James Dupre Lawson.

Surviving is a sister, Linda Lawson Payne (James) of Orangeburg, SC; a niece Renee Roper Hammett (Dean) and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held January 14 at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg with Rev. Kermit Morris officiating.
