Catherine Wilkins Grimes passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012.
She was born and raised in Rutherfordton, NC. She graduated from
Rutherfordton-Spindale Central High School, Mars Hill College and
Limestone College.
Early in her career she met the man who would be her husband for 50 years until his death in 2005, Junius Summerfield “Pete” Grimes, III.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister,
Helen W. Frost and her brother, D.S “Bob” Wilkins. Catherine is
survived by her children, Junius S. “Jess” Grimes, IV and wife Alice
of Norfolk, VA, Cathy Grimes Tomasetti and husband John of Raleigh,
and David C. Grimes and wife Cheryl of Raleigh; six grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister Martha D.
Wilkins, her brother Charles H. Wilkins, seven sisters-in-law, one
brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at St. Giles
Presbyterian Church and the committal at Raleigh Memorial Park.
