It was a commercial jingle heard very often and remembered by anyone of us who were around in the 1970’s - “Hot Dogs, Baseball, Apple Pie and Chevrolet” was the popular cry of the day. This past Saturday, Chevrolet dealers celebrated 100 years of Chevrolet! At McCurry-Deck, 1740 Highway 74-A, in Forest City, there was a party to commemorate the founding and introduction of Chevrolet on November 3, 1911. It was named after co-founder, Louis Chevrolet. General Motors later acquired the line to directly compete with Henry Ford’s popular Model T. Previously, in 1949 another jingle had emerged: “See The USA In Your Chevrolet!” became as American as, shall we say, apple pie!  True to tradition, General Manager Paul Deck commissioned a special party as well as a customer appreciation event to celebrate a century of Chevrolets. A collection of Chevrolets from all years gathered around the dealership. Well over 200 hot dogs, drinks, and slices of apple pie were served. Hundreds of people showed up to be a part of the birthday party. Paul Deck was very pleased with the outcome. McCurry-Deck was also celebrating the addition of Chevrolet to their Buick, GMC lineup, which was just one year old. It was a great event celebrating an American born machine which remains extremely popular today.
