Charles Dean Huffstickler, 84, died August 11, 2023.

He was born September 6,1938 in Rutherford County, a son of the late Ilus Lawson Huffstickler and Frances Dalton Huffstickler.

Dean graduated from RS Central and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1963. He had a longtime career as a police officer. He retired in 1990 as Sergeant with the City of Gastonia and Captain with the Gaston County Sheriff's Department. After retirement, he started his own business, the OffShoot Academy.

Dean is survived by his children, Chuck Huffstickler (wife Kish) of Gastonia, Jeanne Thompson (husband Marc) of Gastonia, and Chris Huffstickler (wife Heidi) of Waxhaw; five grandchildren, sister, Charlene Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Peggy Hill Huffstickler, and his sister, Sybil Ruff.

The family will receive friends at Union Road Church from 10:30 until 12:00 August 19. A funeral service will follow at 12pm at the church. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
