Charlie Young Banning, 74, of Rutherfordton, passed away April 10, 2016.

A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Fred and Virginia Cole Banning. He was a greens superintendent for a golf course, was of the Baptist faith, and a US Army veteran.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Millie Jane Blake Banning of the home; sons, Charles Ray Banning and David Banning of Rutherfordton; daughter, Anita Marlow of Bostic; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; sister Jean Keyser of Lancaster, SC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Joe, Jim, and Marshall Banning. At Charlie's request, services will be private.

Crowe's Mortuary is serving the family.
