Clara Mae Shoffner Ross, the wife of the late John Graham Ross, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018.

Clara Mae was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus L. Shoffner of Burlington, NC and was preceded in death by her four brothers. She was born August 20, 1916 and celebrated her 102 birthday August 20, 2018.

She attended Elon College and Mars Hill College. While working at the Chamber of Commerce of Burlington she met her future husband, Graham, who was with Firestone Corporation. They were married September 24, 1940. After serving our country during WWII Graham returned home and they moved to Forest City.

Clara Mae is survived by her daughter, Dianne Ross Pue, son-in-law, Art Pue of Seabrook Island, S.C. Two grandsons, three great granddaughters, two nephews, two nieces.

Clara Mae especially loved playing bridge, bingo, reading and planting caladiums. She enjoyed so much her Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church, where she was a member.

A private memorial service was held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church cemetery.
