Cleghorn Plantation Golf & Country Club, one of Western North Carolina’s finest courses, has just re-opened for play. This follows a nearly two year hiatus when the club was closed due to legal issues. Cleghorn is now back on its feet financially and operationally.

“Cleghorn Plantation is just a fabulous course that challenges any golfer, regardless of their handicap. Folks come to Cleghorn for the scenery, the layout, and the variety of shots they will hit when they are out there on the course,” remarked Dave Long, newly named General Manager and Director of Golf at Cleghorn. “I came from Indiana to North Carolina and I still can’t believe the elevation changes and dynamic layout Cleghorn has on every hole.” Long has 25 years of golf management and teaching experience. He is a Class A PGA member and former swing coach for the University of Notre Dame golf team at South Bend.

“We are just excited to see this place open again after all the course, members, and community have been through. Cleghorn will be run professionally, but with a personal touch so people know they are appreciated,” continued Long.

Cleghorn has already invested heavily in new equipment and systems. “We have received 62 new Club Car Precedent electric golf carts, installed a new online tee time system in partnership with the Golf Channel, and brought in new but experienced staff members who understand how to treat members and guests,” said Long.

Cleghorn will be open for play 7 days per week along with its grass driving range and putting green for practice. It is selling memberships to the golf course and swimming pool both on line and in the pro shop. The Pro Shop can be reached at 828-286-9117 for tee times and membership information. Cleghorn’s website also has more information at www.cleghornplantation.
