Clyde Mathiew Calhoun, 87, of Rutherfordton passed away on Thusday, July 21, 2011. Services were held at Mountain Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Calhoun served his country in the US Army during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ella Sue Wilkerson Calhoun and his parents, Lewis Tilman and Ellie Mae Shephard Calhoun.
He is survived by his daughter, Faye Hassell and her husband Tom of Shelby; a son, Carrol Calhoun and his wife Moletia of Rutherfordton; brothers, John Calhoun of Rutherfordton and Claude Calhoun of Gastonia; sisters, Velvia Jenkins of Forest City; Sarah Bell of Kings Mountain and Francis Short of Michigan; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
