Gabe Turner of Ellenboro is the winner of the American Legion District 23 High School Oratorical Contest. Turner, a junior at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, won the competition held Saturday, January 16, at Kings Mountain American Legion Post. He previously won the contest sponsored by Post 82 in Shelby. The son of Tommy & Connie Turner of Ellenboro, Gabe plans to attend college & study music. Turner will advance to the Division Competition to be held in Hickory.
