Crayton Alexander Griffin, age 89, of Mint Hill, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Thursday, July 9, 2026. Born and raised in Marshville, Crayton helped work and care for the family farm and delivered dairy milk to Carnation. He worked at McEwen Funeral Home Morehead in Charlotte and met the love of his life, beginning a beautiful journey that would span nearly 66 years of marriage, that led them to Mint Hill. Crayton proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for 6 years before dedicating 27 years of service to Western Electric. Alongside his brother, Johnny, he founded Griffin Builders, where together they built the Eaglecrest housing development in Stallings. A gifted carpenter with a servant's heart, Crayton could build just about anything. Crayton was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church for 59 years. His steadfast faith in Jesus Christ guided his life, and he lived as a quiet example of humility, kindness, hard work, and devotion to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ingram Griffin and Blair Griffin; his sister, Louise Griffin; and his brother, Johnny Griffin. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 66 years, Betty Kiser Griffin, his daughters, Cindy Griffin (Russell) of Mint Hill, and Jennifer Griffin Hensley (Jeff) of Union Mills; a daughter by love and heart Danielle Flowe (Scottie) of Matthews, granddaughter, Jessica Pettit (Colby) of Spindale; grandson, Jesse Hensley (Morgan) of Rutherfordton; great-grandson, Cooper Pettit. Among those he loved dearly: Kaleb, Koda and Kyndal Flowe. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara Griffin of Stallings and brother-in-law, Dan Kiser of Forest City, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. A celebration of Crayton's life will be held Thursday, July 16 at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church; 2817 Mt. Harmony Church Rd., Matthews, NC 28105 with Rev. Scottie Flowe and Rev. Daniel Royster officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:45am prior to the service.
