David Ray, age 76 of the Sunshine Community, Bostic, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019.

David was born on May 3, 1943in Connersville, Indiana and was a son of the late William Ray and Mary Rasner Ray.

David was a member of Sunshine United Methodist Church and a member and twice Past-Master of Hollis Masonic Lodge No. 535 AF&AM. David enjoyed visiting other area lodges and was a devoted mason. He worked for Rutherford County Schools and retired as custodian at Chase Middle School. David also was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Harrison Ray of the home, a brother, Bill Ray of Central, South Carolina, and brother-in-law, Roy Harrison of Sunshine.

The funeral service was held in The Padgett and King Chapel. Interment followed in the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of The Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
