Dining and instruction coupled in Valentine's class

Dining and instruction coupled in Valentine's class

Whether your love is cooking or your sweetheart, the Isothermal Culinary Arts program has a fun evening in store for you.

The Valentine's Day Tutorial and Dining Experience will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Isothermal Culinary Training Center in the old Forest City Elementary at 140 Old Caroleen Road, Forest City.

The cost for the program is $35 per person. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. To reserve a spot, call Continuing Education at 828-395-1405.

The menu will include a brie and puff pastry appetizer, followed by shrimp muniere, chateaubriand with torne vegetables, duchess potatoes and bernaise sauce. The night will be capped with a dessert of rich chocolate mousse with raspberry coulis.

This hands-on culinary training introduces several classics of French cuisine. Students will enjoy an evening of learning a few culinary basics, food pairings and preparation best practices.

The course is engaging and fun with everyone taking part in meal preparation. Come as a couple, with friends or by yourself to enjoy a little "me" time.

This is the third individual class in the college's new Culinary Arts program, which will become available to area high school students in 2019. A more comprehensive 10-week class started last week. Details on additional classes will be available soon.

The program is made possible through the generous support of partners including the Appalachian Regional Commission and Rutherford County Schools. For more details, contact Dee Spurlin at 828-395-1416.
