On Friday March 9, 2012 the Lord called an angel home.

    Donald Jr. Smiley is survived by his wife Helen Hargett Smiley; a daughter Linda Reel & son in law Benny Reel of Bostic; Grandchildren DeWayne Chapman of Bostic and Rita Rector of Morganton; his special “little man” Noah Chapman of Bostic; four great grandchildren; step daughter Mary Ellen Ross and husband Claude Ross of Charlotte; a sister in law Mary Freeman of Fort Mill, S.C. along with many others that have adopted him as paw paw.     Smiley was a member of Fork Creek Baptist Church and a U. S. Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean War.

    A celebration of his life was held at Fork Creek Baptist Church.

    Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County or to Fork Creek Baptist Church.

    Crowe Mortuary is serving the family.
