On Thursday, September 7, 2023, Doris Edwards Kimball took a long-anticipated journey to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Taking this journey before her were her husbands, Walter Talmadge Edwards, Charles Frederick Kimball II, and her son Walter Matthew Edwards.Although her spirit left this earth, she left a legacy behind.

Remaining to carry on her legacy are her children: Susan Elliott, Sherry Smith, Martha Feimster, David Edwards (Kim), Danny Edwards (Sharon), Sam Edwards (Sharon), Mary Ruppe (Terry), George Edwards, and Mark Edwards, 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Doris was a stay-at-home mom for many years until she began her sewing career at Shadowline in Morganton. Doris was an active member of Harmon Street Baptist Church.

The funeral was held September 11 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Rev. Judah Crowder officiating.
