Dorothy Mary McCurry "Dot" Allen, age 90 of Forest City passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015. 

She was born July 13, 1924 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland McCurry and Jettie Marguerite Hutchins McCurry.  Dorothy and her husband, Buck were owners of Allen Furniture and Appliance Store in Forest City and later she established Kiddie Korner Kollege Day Care in Forest City which was the first licensed day care facility in Rutherford County.   A faithful member of Florence Baptist Church where she was instrumental in the establishment of both Boy Scout and Cub Scout Troops at Florence Baptist Church as well as serving on various committees in the church.   Her beloved husband, Charles W. "Buck" Allen preceded her in death in January of 2013.

Survivors include her son, C. Roger Allen and wife Karen of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, a daughter, Dottie Allen Wilson of Cornelius, North Carolina. There are four grandchildren, Bristol Wilson, Anne Taylor-Allen, Julie Reynolds, and Amiee Chiapetta as well as great-grandson, Liam Wilson.

Funeral services were held in the Florence Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. A service of Committal was held in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park.   The family respectfully request that memorials be made in Dorothy's name to Florence Baptist Church, 201 South Broadway Street, Forest City, North Carolina 28043.
