Edith Harris Atchley, age 78, of Gilkey, NC, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022.

She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Nora Harris, and she was born and raised in the Green Hill Community. Edith graduated from RS Central, and King's College. Edith was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and she later attended Mountain Creek Baptist Church. She worked for over 30 years as a secretary for the Rutherford County School System where she retired.

In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by one son, Mayford Allen Atchley, and one brother, William Arthur "Butch" Harris.

Edith is survived by her husband of 58 years, Mayford Lee Atchley Sr., daughter April Atchley Cosner (Mike), son Mayford Lee Atchley Jr. (Claudia), sisters Kathy Tuttle, Brenda Crook, and Nancy Medford, two grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church November 6, with Rev. Randy Darley officiating.
