Franklin Donald "Don" McMahan, age 81 of Mooresboro, NC died Sunday, June 19, 2022.

He was a native of Rutherford County and son of the late J. L. and Beatrice Freeman McMahan. Don was a graduate of Rutherfordton-Spindale High School.

He retired from McLean Trucking Company. Don was a child of God and of the Baptist faith. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by son, Donald McMahan, Jr. and sister, Barbara McMahan Goode.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 41 years, Eula (Pete) Lancaster McMahan, daughters, Judy Lancaster Smith and husband Calvin (Skip) Smith of Spartanburg, SC, and Kristy Lancaster Carlisle and husband Shane Carlisle of Mooresboro, two granddaughter, three grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.

Children, Kim McMahan, Philip McMahan, and Tony McMahan also survive him.

The funeral service will be held at 2pm Thursday, June 23, 2022, in The Padgett and King Chapel with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard on the lawn of the chapel. Interment will be private for the family at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock prior to the service at the mortuary.
