Fred M. Hutchins, age 84, of Bostic, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018.

Born April 26, 1934 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Burley Miller Hutchins and Myrtle Elizabeth Conner Hutchins. He worked as a contractor in bridge construction for many years and enjoyed working with heavy equipment, gardening and the outdoors. He especially loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Merle Tallent and Mildred McDaniel.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joan B. Hutchins; two daughters, Annette Hobson and Sherry Price (Rodney); two sons, Chris Hutchins (Samantha) and Mitch Hutchins (Mary); step-children, Denise Houser (Billy), Greg Whitaker (Aimee) and Debra Biddy (Gary); six sisters, Hazel Greene, Shirley Bright, Lucille Miller, Jean Harris, Ruth Byers and Geneva Robinson. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was conducted at Gantts Grove Baptist Church. Rev Scott Caldwell and Rev Robert Lane officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
