Gerald "Buck" Barker, age 88, Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, December 16, 2016.

Born April 8, 1928 in Gaston County, NC, he was a son to the late John Barker and Nancy Farmer Barker. He worked for Stonecutter Mill-Mill Spring Plant for over twenty-five years before retirement. Buck was a member of Green River Baptist Church and enjoyed taking trips to the Tennessee Mountains with his late wife.

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Avree Bernice Henderson Barker; daughter, Vicky Barker; two sons, Ronnie Barker and Phillip Barker; sister, Pat Barker and two brothers, Bill Barker and Jimmy Barker.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Barker and wife, Maxine of Rutherfordton and Ricky Barker and wife, Nancy of Polk County; sister, Sandy Huggins of NC; daughter-in-law, Deborah Barker of Mooresboro; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

The memorial service was conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend David Anderson and Mr. Tony Barker officiating.
