Gerald Wright, age 83, of Spindale, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015.

    Born February 3, 1932 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Robert Hyden Wright and Dolores Kiser Wright.  Gerald worked for Exxon Oil Company as a truck driver for thirty-three years and for Hardin’s Trucking for many years. He was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of over forty years, Sara Lou Humphries Wright and one sister, Martha Cash.

     Survivors include his wife, Lucille Hearn Wright; two sons, Jud Wright and wife, Barbara of Cliffside and Jeffrey Wright of Ellenboro; three sisters, Betty Roper of Gilkey, Jeanette Wallace and husband, Luke of Forest City and Sandra Brigman and husband, Tommy also of Gilkey; one brother, Norris Wright and wife, Sherry of Forest City; one step-daughter, Frances Powers of Forest City.  He is also survived by four grandchildren, Sammie Jo Hoyle, Justin Wright, Nicki Wright and Ray Wright.

     A memorial service was conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Wayne Toney officiating.
