Gladys Beard Hames, age 97 of Ellenboro, NC, graduated to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

Mrs. Hames was born in Knox County, TN March 10, 1926 to the late James Lee Beard and the late Bertha Taylor Beard.

Mrs. Hames was a member of Goodes Grove Baptist Church, having previously served in various capacities at Cliffside Baptist Church for over 50 years. She retired from G.F. Business Equipment in Forest City and also worked for the Rutherford County Board of Elections.

Left to cherish her memory include her son Dennis Hames, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Edwin Hames, six brothers; Ralph, Brevard, James, Evert, Grady and Leonard Beard, two sisters; Viola B. Link and Lorene B. Bickett.

A memorial service was held November 11 at Goodes Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Robby Hensley officiating.
