Hamrick and grandson have new Habitat home

Debbie Hamrick, a new Habitat for Humanity homeowner is shown with long time pro-bono lawyer, Richard Williams, as she signs all the paperwork.

Debbie Hamrick and her great-grandson, Wesley, have a new Habitat for Humanity house in Spindale.

After 18 months of dealing with a pandemic while trying to build a house, long supplier delays, lack of materials, and no volunteers (furloughed due to Covid), Hamrick signed the mortgage papers last week and is the proud owner of her forever home.

"Debbie has been a trooper and put in the required 300 hours of sweat equity by cleaning debris on the worksite, working in the ReStore, and attending homeownership classes in order to make this possible," said a Habitat for Humanity spokesperson.
