Harold H. Ruppe, age 98, of Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019.

He was the son of the late Hudson Ruppe and the late Alice Ruppe. Harold was a native of Rutherford County and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon. He loved farming and he enjoyed working on antique cars. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Harold was assigned for duty to battery D, 950th anti-aircraft artillery battalion as a gunner on multiple quad 50 caliber machine guns. He served in Guadalcanal, New Guinea, Southern Pacific, Western Pacific and Philippine Islands. Harold was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for a wound he received in combat.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by one brother, RN Ruppe, and one son, Philip Ruppe.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years: Hovis Robbins Ruppe. Two Sons: Charles Ruppe and his wife Dwan of Wilmington, NC. Dennis Ruppe and his wife Jami. Daughter-in-law: Donice Ruppe. Two Grandchildren and One Great-Grandchild.

A graveside service was held at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment was held in the Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills; P.O. Box 336, Forest City, 28043.
