PrintHedy Garcia, age 92 of Rutherfordton, NC died Friday, October 16, 2026.
Hedy was born May 2, 1934, in Ranchuelo, Cuba and she was the daughter of the late Jose Mendez and Anna Louisa Valdes. She worked for General Motors Corporation for many years until her retirement. Hedy was a Roman Catholic and she was a devoted wife, and a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
Hedy was the last of four siblings, her sister, Elsa, and brothers, Roberto and Jose, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Philip Garcia, Jr. and wife Susan of MI, his daughter, Rachel Garcia and husband, Thomas Trout of Rutherfordton, her grandchildren, Natasha, Evan, and Rebecca and two great-grandchildren.
The family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date.
