Hicks Samuel Branscom Sr., age 87 of Forest City, passed away Thursday February 23, 2012.

    A native of McDowell County, he was the son of the late Frank and Arrie Morgan Branscom. He was a retired textile employee, a member of Spencer Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Army serving during World War Two.

    Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Clara Dixon Branscom of Forest City; son Hicks Branscom Jr. of Forest City; daughter Dianne McDonald and husband David of Charlotte; two grandchildren Angela Wilson and Will Craig; two great grandchildren, Ashleigh Nolen and Chase Craig. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jan Branscom.

    Funeral services were held at Crowe’s Mortuary. Interment followed in Eternal Hills Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
