Isothermal students take prizes in photo & art contests

Isothermal students performed well in the recent photography and art contests at the Colfax Free Fair in Ellenboro and the Cleveland County Fair in Shelby. Winners in the photo categories are Katelynn Ruppe (left to right), Seth McBrayer , Victor Santiago

Ten photography and art students from Isothermal Community College took various top honors in this year's photography and art contests at the Colfax Free Fair in Ellenboro and the Cleveland County Fair in Shelby.

The 2018 contests drew hundreds of entries in numerous categories.

In the photography categories:

Katelynn Ruppe won third in Miscellaneous-Color;

Seth McBrayer won third in Nature or Architectural-Color;

Victor Santiago won first in Youth Animals or Insects-Color;

Marla Hoyle won second in Animals or Insects-Color;

Brendan Thompson won Third in Animals or Insects-Color;

Cullen Maley won second in Plants and Flowers-Color;

Rebecca Short won second Youth Animals or Insects-Color; and

Brittany Goolsby won first in Single Animal-Color.

In the art categories:

Maggie Watt won first in Pastels and First in Pen and Ink;

Blythe Thorn won first in Mix Media and First in Graphite;

Katelynn Ruppe won second place in Pastels; and

Zachary Freeman won first in Professional Category Paint and Mixed Media.
