J R Lane, age 89, of Union Mills, passed away November 30, 2021.

J R was born April 22, 1932 in Rutherford County to the late Julius Franklin Lane Sr. and Bertha Annabell Conner Lane. He worked as a logging truck driver for most of his life and was a member of Camp Creel Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Louene Thomas Lane of 67 years; sons, Grayling J. Lane (Anna) and Randy Lee Lane (Sharon) all of Union Mills; brother, Roy Lane (Edna) of Union Mills; sisters, Margaret Wallace of Ellenboro, Shirley Griffin of Union Mills and Carolyn Spurling (Gene) of Forest City, six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted December 4, 2021 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Yelton officiating.

Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
