Jack Mell Hutchins, age 83, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, September 13,

Jack was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late James Curtis Hutchins and the late Ina Freeman Hutchins.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Brittain Presbyterian Church. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband and devoted Christian. He retired from the State of NC as Director of Transportation for Rutherford County Schools.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Byrd Hutchins, one grandson and two brothers Marvin and James Hutchins.

Survivors include: two Daughters: Regina McKinney and husband Ron Renee Edwards and husband Lee. Two sons: Curtis Jack Hutchins and wife Tammy Kenneth James Hutchins and wife Kim. Three brothers: Wilbert Hutchins, Rev. George Hutchins Everett Hutchins, three grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at Brittain Presbyterian Church with Reverend Ted Grant and Reverend Michael Brown officiating. Interment was held at Brittain Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
