James Lawrence Tate, age 74, of Forest City, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017.

Born January 28, 1943 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Norman Tate and Beatrice Summers Tate. James worked at Cone Mills-Cliffside Plant for over forty years before retirement and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Henrietta. He was an avid fisherman and owned the local T & M Racing Team, car # 12. You would always find James at the Harris Speedway of Cherokee Speedway during racing season.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Mozelle Tate; daughter, Deborah Taylor of Forest City; sister, Martha Horn of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

The memorial service was conducted at the First Baptist Church of Henrietta with Reverend Mike Cash officiating.
