Janet Morrow Carpenter, age 83 of Forest City died Monday, March 2, 2026.

Janet was born March 5, 1942, in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Walter and Juanita McDaniel Morrow.

Janet was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where she was active in the WMU, a former member of the choir, former church Secretary and served on numerous mission trips.She was in the last graduating class of Harris High School.

Janet was first and foremost a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, James D. (Jimmy) Melton and her nephew, Brian Jackson.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Boyce Carpenter, her daughters, Anita Carpenter and Sheila Ledford and husband Joey all of Forest City, her sister, Pat Morrow Jackson of Forest City, her brothers, Robert (Bob) Morrow and wife Jean, Bruce Morrow and wife Abby, and Roger Fay Morrow and wife Brenda all of Forest City, four grandchildren, Samantha (Sam) Carpenter, Austin Ledford, Caleb Ledford, and Noah Ledford, a great-grandchild, Lettie Rae, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held March 7 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Lane Goff officiating.
