Jean Huntley Owens, age 84, of Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016.

A native of Rutherford County she was the daughter of the late William Stanford Huntley and Lala Roberson Huntley; she was a former employee of Tanner Company, and graduate of Harris High School.

She is survived by children Pamela Owens Carpenter (Forest) and Michael A. Owens (Patsy); Grandchildren Forest (Kim) and Caitlin Carpenter, Will (April) and Judson (Holly) Owens, and 8 great grandchildren; 7 siblings Francis Cole, Madge Layton, Muriel Hash, Joyce Guffey, Joe Huntley, Betty Ruppe, and Judy Crawford.

A graveside service was held at the Kistler's Chapel UMC Cemetery with the Reverend Laurie Kenoespel and Reverend Sara Scruggs officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorials may be sent to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
