John Lennox Haney, 78, of Taylors, SC, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

John served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was airborne tracking Russian submarines and left with an honorable discharge, then two years in the reserves. He worked many years as an electrical engineer, then management positions in Charlotte until his retirement in 2020.

He was a son of the late Carlile and Ruby Walls Haney, and was also preceded in death his brothers Larry Haney and Dennis Haney.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Vivian Lavender Haney; their son, Brad Haney (Summer); his granddaughters, Adelyn and Madison; his brother, Thurman Breedlove (Freddie); his sister-in-law, Katherine Lavender of Chapin, SC; a brother-in-law, Johnny Lavender (Beverly) of Ellenboro; and many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service was held September 29 at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ad Hopper officiating. Military Rites were accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
