John (Tommy) was born March 1, 1945 in Detroit Michigan. He was the son of Hugh and Francis Phillips of Shelby. He was a graduate of Shelby High School.

Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter Audrey Phillips Asprogiannis of Cookeville, TN, sisters Susan Phillips Byers of Shelby, Jackie Phillips Poston of Hendersonville, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife LaVonda R. Phillips of Vale and his parents Hugh and Frances Phillips.

John served in the US Air Force in Vietnam for four years in the K-9 division. He was employed at Ethan Allen in Maiden for 35 years.

A celebration of life will be at 2pm April 29 in Round Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ernie Richard officiating and full military honors provided.
