John Wayne "Duke" Wilkins was the son of Alphonzo Sr. and Mary Queen McEntire Wilkins of Cliffside, NC. He was born on July 29, 1954 in Rutherfordton County and departed this life August 27, 2021.

John was preceded in death by a sister Sue (Mary Frances) Wilkins, 2 brothers Larry Wilkins and Randy Wilkins; niece Jayton Wilkins; a nephew Percy Moore; an aunt Mary Frances Gray in addition to his parents.

John is survived by one daughter, Sheika Hunt and 3 grandchildren of Forest City; 2 brothers Alphonzo Wilkins Jr., (Elizabeth) of Cliffside Christopher Wilkins of Rutherfordton and a sister Pearl Dawkins of Spindale; 3 aunts Johnnie Mae Baber of Clinton; Patricia Ann Wright of New York; Jenella Bowith of Caroleen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
