Joseph Stephen "Steve" Carroll, age 78, of Forest City, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018.

A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Alton Parker Carroll and Grace Lewis Carroll. Steve enjoyed gardening, hunting, nature and fishing, trips with his buddies. He also loved family get togethers and photography. He was a dedicated member of Bethany Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and sound manager. He loved his church family. He was a supervisor at General Fire Proofing, Mastercraft, OMC, and Stonecutter Mills, and worked at Melton's Store. He loved his job at Ingles where he made even more friends. Steve was preceded in death by a twin sister, Nancy Tucker, and a brother, A.P. Carroll.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mozelle Upton Carroll, a son Tony Carroll, two daughters, Carla Carroll Hartford and husband Leonard, and Kelly Butler, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Bethany Baptist Church. Rev Chris Fox officiated. Interment followed in the Bethany Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund, 760 Bethany Church Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
