Joyce Shires, age 82, of Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023.

Joyce was born January 23, 1941 in Montford Cove, NC to the late Roland Elijah Hill and Gertie Fincannon Hill. She was a graduate of Tri-High School and the owner and operator of Country Heart Braiding. Joyce was a member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Floyd Hill, Ruth Womick, Grace McDaniel and Howard Hill.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 62 years, Jerry Shires; daughters, Rhonda Medford of Rutherfordton, Suzanne Shires of Edneyville, Lynn Ormand of Forest City and son, Tony Shires of Forest City; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

A graveside service was held, July 25 at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Rev. Mike Cash and Rev. George Whitmire officiating.
