Julie Carpenter Hicks, age 98, of Russellville, KY, formerly of Rutherfordton passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015.

Julie was a native of Henderson County. She was the daughter of the late Harvey Carpenter and the late Irma Carpenter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband C.C. Hicks a granddaughter Janna Cowan; sisters Margaret Martin, Irma Jackson and Dale Ward; brother Harvey Carpenter.

Julie was a member of First Baptist Church of Russellville, KY and formerly attended First Baptist Church Rutherfordton. She attended Mitchell College in Statesville. She was a member of the D.A.R. for more than 50 years. Julie was also a member of National Society of Colonial Dames and the Daughters of the American Colonists, though not recently.

One Daughter: Julie Hicks Johnson and her husband Rob of Russellville, KY. One Son: Jay Hicks of Hickory. One Sister: Janna McMahan of Greenville, SC. Five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

The funeral service was held at First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton with Rev. Dean Baughn officiating. Interment was held at Rutherfordton City Cemetery.
