June Samuel Hawkins, 88, of Forest City, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012. 

He was born on February 6, 1924, a son of the late Albert Hawkins. He was a retired Mechanic. He was also a United States Army Veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Forest City, a member of the DAV, an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

He is survived by his wife, Retta Humphries Hawkins; two sons, Robert Hawkins and wife Linda of Ellenboro and Ronnie Hawkins and wife Martha of Mooresboro; one daughter, June Hawkins Green and husband Rickey of Ellenboro; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Bruce Duncan officiating. Military Honors were provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
