Larry Gene Robbins, age 77 of Forest City passed away Friday, January 10, 2020.

Larry was born April 11, 1942 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Carl and Bessie Henson Robbins.

Larry was a graduate of Cool Springs High School in the Class of 1961 and a graduate of Western Carolina University in 1964 where he earned a degree in Elementary education. He taught his first year at Nations Ford Elementary School in Mecklenburg County and then returned to Rutherford County where he taught at Forest City Elementary School.

His career later moved to the trucking industry where he worked for various trucking companies as transportation manager, including AGI, B&P Motor Lines, Carretta, Southeastern, and finally at Truck Service in Forest City where he retired in Sales and Safety.

In his retirement, Larry was able to do what he always wanted to do, play cowboy. He was Ranger Buck at Tweetsie Railroad and when Ghost Town re-opened, he continued to be Ranger Buck. After Ghost Town closed, he returned to the school system where he was a substitute teacher. A job he truly loved.

He was a man of faith and a member of Bethany Baptist Church where he served in various capaicaties over the years. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Robbins and Don Robbins.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Debbie Evans Robbins, a daughter, Sherri Kennedy of Forest City, a sister, Diane Robbins Jones of Forest City, and his three grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at Bethany Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
