Larry Whitener, age 78, of Mooresboro, passed away May 8, 2022.

Larry was born July 21, 1943 in Rutherford County to the late Elbert Whitener and Mattie Louise Fowler Whitener. He was a graduate of R-S Central High School and worked for Cone Mills 43 years. Larry was a member of Gantt's Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Mattie Sue Whitener; sister, Sarah Jeanette Crook and brother, Melvin Whitener, Sr.

Left to cherish fond memories include his daughter, Tammy Whitener (Bill) of Forest City, sister-in-law, Judy Whitener of Forest City, brother-in-law, Joe Bennett of Mooresboro; five nieces, five nephews.

The funeral was held May 14 at Gantt's Grove Baptist Church.

Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
