Do you love the familiar?

I moved my office recently. Not far. Just across the hall.

But I changed desks, which means I changed credenzas. Took out one table and added another book shelf for my collection of soon-to-be souvenirs. And I moved my trash can.

None of that sounds particularly important, does it?

Moving the trash can proved to be dangerous.

You know how you grow accustomed to pitching your trash at the can without even thinking? That’s how I am, only the trash can is in a different location than in my previous space. Which means I’ve chunked a bunch of paper and stuff in the floor.

Finally, I started pitching at the new trash can spot, but it took me about three weeks to get the new place in my mind.

This New Year brings new places and spaces to us regardless of whether we know they’re coming or not. Be nice to yourself and relax as you adjust. Give yourself a few weeks to grow accustomed to it. Laugh at yourself like I did when you throw trash in the floor and just Live Positive.
