Lorene "Pete" Scoggins, age 79, of Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025.

Pete was born September 20, 1946 in Rutherford County to the late Vallie Murray and Blanche Hastings Murray. She was a graduate of Chase High School and worked in the spinning room for Stonecutter Mill for many years.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Ernest Murray (Leah) of Caroleen; granddaughters, Tileah Murray (James), Danielle Murray and Adestiny Murray (Ethan); great grandchildren, Persayus Honeycutt, Ryah Murray-Roberson and Caylor Roberson; many brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces which includes nieces, Amy Murray (Chris), Missy Morrison (Joey) and nephew, Vallie Murray (Christel).

In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be conducted.
