Lucille Blackwell Bridges, age 78 of the Sandy Mush Community died Monday, October 19, 2026. She was born June 8, 1948, in Cherokee County, SC and was a daughter of the late Woodrow and Louise Wilkie Blackwell.

Louise was member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She spent her working years at Doncaster Corporation as well as at the Mitchell Company. Lucille was a seamstress who for many years provided seamstress work for the public.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Billy, Willard, Doris and Beckey.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald Bridges, her daughters, Tracy Chapman and husband Steve of Forest City, Shannon Shuford and husband Chris of Belmont, and her grandchildren, Morgan Shuford and fiancée, Alec, and Preston Shuford and wife Makenna.

The funeral service will be held at 2pm Friday, October 23 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Matheny and Rev. Chris Shuford officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock in the Sanctuary prior to the service.
