Luther S. "Buster" Morris, age 92



Luther S. "Buster" Morris, age 92, of Forest City, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016.

A native of Olar, SC, he was the son of the late Wilbur Shelton Morris and Minnie Bell Sease Morris, and widower of the late Mary Alice Kearse Morris. Buster was a member of First United Methodist Church of Forest City where he had served as Sunday school superintendent, a former member of the administrative board, and Past President of the Asbury Sunday school class. He was the former chairperson of the scout committee and a scout master, coached little league baseball and was the former chairperson of the Babe Ruth League. He was also a former member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and chairperson of the Agricultural Committee, the Optimus Club and chairperson of the Forest City Tree Committee. Buster served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II as a crew member of a B-17. He graduated from Clemson University with a BS degree in Agronomy. He worked for American Agricultural Chemical, International Mineral and Chemical Company and retired from the Town of Rutherfordton in 1991.

Survivors include his sons, Michael Morris and wife Carolyn of Loganville, GA, Greg Morris and wife Michelle of Winterville, NC; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Kaye Morris.

Funeral services were held in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Neil Haynes officiating. Interment followed in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
