Madge Huntley Layton

Madge Huntley Layton of Winchester, MA was born in Rutherfordton, NC on February 19, 1926, and passed away in Tampa, FL December 13, 2022.

She was the daughter of Wm. Stanford Huntley and Lala Roberson Huntley.

Madge graduated from Harris High School. She worked in Charlotte at a plant making Walkie-Talkies for the US Army. She also worked in Washington, D.C. in the Criminal Investigation Division. She worked for the F.B.I. for about five years. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service in Boston, Massachusetts.

Madge returned to Washington, D.C. and went to work at the National Academy of Sciences where she met her husband, Walter Adonis Layton III.

Survivors include her daughters Mary Leigh Layton-Kee and husband Bob, Laurel Layton Ursino and husband Joseph, son Walter A. Layton IV (Don), two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters and her sisters, Muriel Hash and Betty Ruppe.

A memorial service is being planned for the Spring of 2023 and will be announced.
